Light a Candle for your Special Intentions

With the passing of our beloved Holy Father, Pope Francis, we invite you to honor his life, legacy, and unwavering devotion to Christ by lighting a candle at Mary’s Shrine.

Throughout his papacy, Pope Francis led the faithful with a heart of compassion, welcoming the marginalized and underprivileged with open arms. As the world mourns a shepherd who led an extraordinary life of service to the Church and to God’s people, we consider it an honor to light a vigil candle for you.

Vigil candles for Pope Francis will burn in chapels and oratories throughout the upper and lower Church of the National Shrine. Each burning flame represents the faith of the supplicants and their fervent prayers entrusted to the Blessed Virgin Mary's loving intercession.   

The suggested donation for one candle is $5.00. Thank you for your generous and prayerful support.
